The DOC Family doesn't just come to Detroit — we invest in it. For the 6th Annual DNPs of Color Conference, DNPs of Color is proud to partner with the Congress of Communities, a resident-led organizing and advocacy agency in Southwest Detroit dedicated to empowering communities through education, leadership development, and civic engagement. Together, we are committed to leaving Detroit stronger than we found it.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Congress of Communities and the work they are doing in Southwest Detroit. Our goal is $10,000 — and with 200+ DOC Family members coming to Detroit this October, we know we can get there together.
Donations can be made online now or at the Allen-Mahoney Gala on October 17, 2026, where Congress of Communities will share their vision and impact live with the DOC Family.
Who is Congress of Communities?
Founded in 2010 in Southwest Detroit, Congress of Communities (CoC) was created in response to a growing need for community collaboration and resident-led advocacy. Over the past 15 years, CoC has engaged more than 10,000 residents, youth, and stakeholders through a sustained commitment to building a vibrant, safe, and equitable community.
CoC is a verified 501(c)(3) public charity rooted in the belief that communities are strongest when residents lead. Their work centers on three core actions — Advocate, Organize, and Energize — creating pathways for individuals and neighborhoods to thrive through leadership development, civic engagement, and community-driven solutions.

To provide leadership and facilitate collaboration of residents, youth, and stakeholders to foster a vibrant and sustainable community.
Their Vision
A thriving, safe, clean, green, economically developed, and culturally rich community where children, youth, and adults are healthy, skilled, caring, and civically engaged — and where people take pride in living, working, learning, worshiping, shopping, and playing in Southwest Detroit.
